Wooden Traditionals Keepsake Box
These magnificent boxes are as much a piece of art as they are a place
to store your memories. Created by Peter B. and Judi Kurth, they are reproduced
to the exact specifications of the “Shakers*,” some of the
most magnificent artisans of America’s past. The box is made of
hard maple, with the cover made from birdseye maple, using the original
materials used in making the boxes decades ago, down to the very tiny
brass nails that are now available in such limited supplies. The finish
is a clear lacquer that is then hand waxed giving them a warm, comforting
glow.
The Kurth’s, who have also experienced the death of their son, want
people to know that it is with reverence and deep compassion that they
produce these boxes. They hope that they will become part of your healing
process, and want you to know that their prayers are included with each
box they make.
A Place to Remember currently offers the boxes in four sizes (the examples
are only rough estimates to give individuals an idea of the size of the
boxes relative to each other):
*The United Society of Believers in Christ’s Second Appearance,
better known to the world as the “Shakers” came to the U.S.
from Europe in the 1800s. They were a very industrious and spiritual people,
famous for their fine craftsmanship and deeply religious convictions.
Today there are only a handful of Shakers still surviving. Their legacy
is the simplicity, yet functional design of everything they built....it
was this perfectionism that made their work part of their daily worship
to God. “Hands to work -- Hearts to God.”
REMEMBER, the prices reflect that these are individually hand-crafted,
and hand-waxed boxes, no two will be alike. Since they are hand-crafted,
please allow for a few weeks delivery in case there is a back-order.
